Recently, the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has
taken a turn for the worse, with the secret links of the drug business with
Bollywood coming to the fore. Already, WhatsApp chats of several Bollywood
celebrities have been leaked in the drug scandal and the Narcotics Control
Bureau (NCB) has summoned several Bollywood celebrities for
investigation. But in this case, some WhatsApp users are
worried. Ordinary users think their chats on WhatsApp are safe? Or is
a third person keeping an
eye on it?
This messaging app owned by Facebook has about 2 billion active users
worldwide. WhatsApp claims that they provide end-to-end encryption
protection to all users' chats. This means that only the sender and
recipient users will be able to read their messages.
But four days ago, we told you in
a report how to access WhatsApp data by using a user's chat backup through data
cloning. In fact, WhatsApp chat backups have no end-to-end encryption protection,
so skilled programmers can easily get those backup files in their hands.
But there is no way to avoid this
kind of discomfort? Of course, there is. Following a few simple steps
will keep your personal WhatsApp chats at least somewhat secure.
To keep your WhatsApp chat
safe, keep these simple words in mind:
1. If you do not backup
WhatsApp chats then you are not likely to get into any such trouble. But
to save important or favourite messages, we have to back up the chat. In
this case, be careful about the security of the platform on which you are
saving chat backups. For example, if you have a backup in Google Drive,
keep that app locked.
2. Always keep a password or
lock on the phone so that no one can use your phone or apps without your
permission. Also, use WhatsApp's fingerprint lock feature. That
security option can be turned on from WhatsApp's Settings <Accounts>
Privacy section.
3. Go to WhatsApp settings
and turn on the two-step verification option. This will require a 7-digit
verification code, in addition to the temporary code for the phone number, when
opening your WhatsApp account. If this feature is enabled, change its PIN
from time to time.
4. Many users use the WhatsApp web feature. In this case, anyone else can read them when you open WhatsApp Chat on your system. So, whenever you stop working on the system, you must log out of WhatsApp Web.
