A few days ago, Google removed Paytm from the App Store for violating the rules of the Play Store. However, after a while, the popular payment app of India came back in the Play Store. This time Google sent notices to two food delivery companies, Swiggy and Zomato. According to reports, notices have been sent to these two apps for gamification and promotion of IPL matches. Since then, Swiggy and Zomato have closed all their game-related cashback offers.
Google sent notices to Swiggy and Zomato
According to reports, the same allegations that Paytm was
removed from the Play Store have also been brought against Swiggy and
Zomato. Let me inform you that Paytm has launched Cricket League, Fantasy
Sports, Rami etc. on their platform, from where you can win cashback (you can
also lose money). Which is an example of indirect gambling. And
Google does not promote any such game.
It is known that Swiggy and Zomato have launched this type
of betting sports game on their platform since the start of IPL
2020. Through which cashback and discounts were available. However,
since these are against the rules of the Play Store, I sent a notice to the two
companies before banning Google.
Google said in a blog post that if an app takes its users to
another website where they are tempted to win real cash or prizes by playing a
paid tournament, the app will be deemed to be in violation of the Play Store
policy.
In this case, Zomato launched Zomato Premier League in their app. Where users can win the reward by predicting the result of the IPL match in advance. Swiggy also launched the Match Day Mania offer, where you can win 50 percent off, Swiggy Money, Cashback, etc. in the same way.
